Bob McHenry, Lead Pastor

Bob grew up in rural Indiana along with his five brothers and twin sister.  He is a second career pastor having been converted at the age of 34 through the ministry of Promise Keeper's and Trinity Wesleyan Church in Indianapolis, IN.  In 1997 Bob realized his call to full-time service. 

He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Indiana Wesleyan University.  Presently, he is completing requirements for a Master of Divinity from Wesley Seminary.  Bob and Cheryl married on September 21, 1985.

Bob and Cheryl have served pastorates in Bristol, SD; and Buffalo, WY prior to coming to Linwood on July 31, 2011.  In addition, Bob served as chaplain at the Kokomo Rescue Mission in Kokomo, IN. 

Pastor Bob and Cheryl have one son, Dylan (1993).

Jeff Heron, Outreach Pastor

Jeff is originally from Michigan. He grew up on a small horse farm with his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He attended a Wesleyan Church and at the age of 11 chose to become a Christian. At the age of 19, Jeff sensed a definite call from the Lord to pursue pastoral ministry.

Indiana Wesleyan University was the place where Jeff received his bachelor's degree and completed his requirements for ordination. He also met Lois at IWU, and they were married on November 24, 1978. In 1981, Jeff and Lois moved to Portland, Oregon to further their education. Jeff completed his Master's degree at Western Evangelical Seminary.

Jeff and Lois have been privileged to serve pastorates in Marion, Indiana; North Lakeport, Michigan, and Glendale, Arizona prior to coming to Linwood on September 1, 1994. Jeff serves as our Outreach Pastor.

Pastor Jeff and Lois have three children: Jason (1981), Emily (1984) and Paige (1986).

Penny Martens, LinKids Ministry Director

Penny grew up in DeSmet, SD with her parents, two older brothers, one older sister and one younger sister. She attended Congregational Church there with her family.

She married her high school sweetheart, Matt. Together they graduated from Dakota State University. Penny majored in Elementary and Special Education, with a minor in Computer Education.  The months following graduation were significant for the Martens family. They moved to Sioux Falls, started careers, committed their lives to Christ and found their way to Linwood Church.

Penny gained a master's degree in Education from the University of Sioux Falls in 2002. She briefly taught Special Education, before teaching 1st grade for five years at John Harris Elementary. Penny then chose motherhood as her full-time career for the next 3 years.  In 2009, Linwood invited Penny to lead our Children's Ministry. This was in the providence of God, since Penny was then considering re-entering the work force.

Penny and Matt have three children - Whitney (1994), Andrew (2002) and Marcus (2006).

Russ Borchardt, Worship Director

Russ was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, where he attended an American Baptist Church. Russ remembers making his first spiritual commitment at the age of 9. At the age of 16, he consecrated himself to the Lord and Christian service. He moved to Sioux Falls in 1981 to attend the University of Sioux Falls, where he majored in Church Music. While attending USF, Russ met Cheryl and they married on June 9, 1984.

During his senior year, Russ began working at Crossroads Book & Music, and Cheryl found employment at the Christian Center Elementary. Feeling called to serve God through the bookstore ministry, Russ continued to work at the store following graduation until in 1996, when he and Cheryl were presented with the opportunity to purchase the store. Cheryl and Russ now partner together in the ministry at Crossroads.

In 1991, Russ received his master's degree from the University of South Dakota. One of Russ' hobbies is composing. He has had approximately 12 songs published. He began to serve as Directory of Music and Worship at Linwood in 2009.

Russ and Cheryl have two children - Chris (1989) and Kelli (1992).
