I grew up in the Wesleyan church, the daughter of a Wesleyan pastor. I was raised overseas away from extended family, so the church became my family. I accepted Christ as my Savior at age 4, and at youth camp at age 13 made a deeper commitment to Him as Lord of my life.
I have lived in Sioux Falls for 15 years and have been a part of the Linwood family nearly all of that time. My husband, Mike, and I enjoy all things social and keep busy raising two pre-teen daughters, Ava & Addi. While I do NOT love the cold, I do love the people of Sioux Falls, the people of Linwood, and all the life of this city. Having just recently switched from 18 years in banking, I treasure the privilege of investing in the Kingdom through my role here at Linwood, helping people connect to God & each other.
I believe God has created everyone for a purpose. Our identities, personalities, and beliefs are challenged and structured at the critical age of middle school – high school. That is why I am so passionate about Student Ministries and developing our rising generation. I am honored and humbled to be the NextGen Pastor here at Linwood Church!
Born and raised in Indiana, I was called into ministry around 16 years old. I was blessed to gain my education from Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) with a degree in Youth Ministries and Biblical Literature. My wife, Amanda McConnell (Children’s Director at Linwood) also graduated from IWU. I am crazy in love with her!!
I thoroughly enjoy being “Wild at Heart” and being in the outdoors - camping and hiking. I also am a diehard fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Purdue Boilermakers; I want to be on Survivor or The Amazing Race; and I can be won over with Reese’s and orange soda.
I've always loved singing in church. My family is very heavily influenced by music, especially vocal music, so Hymns were a mainstay for us. After committing my life to Christ at 15, I was driven to study music, and after High School I began my musical education at South Dakota State University (Go Jacks!) At that time, my parents moved to Sioux Falls and started attending Linwood, so it became my 'home church' for Holiday Breaks from school. Linwood was my first experience with a church having a real staff member devoted to Worship Ministry, and I knew God's calling on my life was to serve vocationally in Worship. I accepted the role of Worship Intern under Bob McHenry in 2013, and had a 16 month tenure leading worship for Linwood, and I came back on as Interim Worship Director in January of 2017. In between I met and married my beautiful wife, Emilie, and we had a daughter, Dafne. I love using music and technology to create an environment where Christ can change lives, and I'm so excited to see how He shapes, sustains, and fills up the people of Linwood.
Hello! My name is Amanda McConnell and I come all the way from Mukwonago, WI. I grew up in the Wesleyan church, so going to youth conferences, summer camps, and all that jazz within the church runs in my blood! I have enjoyed every minute of it and it is with those events I have been molded in to the ministry leader I am today.
I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) with a major in Intercultural Studies and a minor in Children's Ministries. IWU is also where I met and fell in love with my handsome husband, Zach! We were married in October 2012, and since then have partnered in ministry.
Our ministry started in Virginia, where we adopted our crazy dog, Blayne. I served as an infant caregiver in a daycare. God then led us to Salisbury, NC where I served as the Children’s Director. You can say that God is definitely on the move and so are the McConnells! I am always in the mood for coffee, the great outdoors, and of course spending good times with my husband!
